The Enhanced Evaluation Service Kolbe Academy offers the Enhanced Evaluation Service (EES) as an available option for parents to utilize if they would like help with the huge undertaking of grading their children's work. How much help will I get? When a parent registers their student for EES, 12 samples of work may be turned in per quarter to their personal evaluator to be graded. These 12 samples can come from any academic subject and in any combination. For example, if a parent would like help in grading compositions, all 12 samples of work could come from composition based courses like Literature and History. A parent is also welcome to spread the samples of work around to include all of the academic subjects that the student is taking. If a second draft of a paper is requested to have a second review by an evaluator, it does not count as another sample of work for the quarter. How will grades be assigned? The EES evaluator will assign a grade based on the expectations that the parent has set for the student, as well as the high expectations that Kolbe Academy holds for its students. Parents will be required to submit an EES sample form with each assignment that details the expectations set for the student, particular areas of concern, and the level of assessment desired (evaluated only, evaluation and grade, etc). Per the principle of subsidiarity, any grade assigned by an evaluator can be adjusted, thrown out, or weighed in a way that the parent deems fit. What types of sample work can I turn in? Any Kolbe Academy assignment, exam, or composition may be turned in for evaluation. Further, any additional type of composition that may not be assigned within the scope of a Kolbe course plan may be turned in as well (i.e. a term paper for history or book report). Is EES a requirement to get credit on a Kolbe Academy transcript? No! EES is an optional service for our registered families who feel help with grading would ease their home schooling experience. How much does it cost? The pricing structure is set up such that parents may decide to enroll their student for 1 quarter of EES to an entire year of EES. The cost is $50/quarter for K - 6 students, $70/quarter for 7th and 8th grade students, and $95/quarter for high school students. Parents who are certain they would like to enroll their student for the entire year will receive a 20% discount on the total price. EES can not be added into the payment plan option for registration. How do I sign up? When filling out a Kolbe Academy Registration form, simply fill in the bottom section of Page 3 and add the amount into your registration total on page 4 of the registration form. What type of feedback will my student receive? We've put together a sample turned in by a student with comments given so that you can see for yourself. Click here for the sample.
