Art of Film-Making

Do you want to learn how to make a short movie?

Course Description

Do you want to learn how to make better home videos? Do you want to learn more about movie production in general? If so, this class is for you! In this course you will learn the basics of film and video making from planning through post-production. We discuss subjects such as storyboarding, camera operation, lighting, types of shots to achieve various effects, sound, and editing. Along with the course text, we look at examples from various films to see certain effects “in action.” Coursework includes reading assignments, homework assignments, “live” in-class discussions, and a student project that culminates with a short 5 to 10 minute video in which you get to make use of everything you’ve learned.
