Homeschooling Around the Holidays (Part 1) - Centering our Hearts on Christ

As we prepare for Thanksgiving festivities and approach the beginning of Advent, it’s easy for many of us to feel a bit overwhelmed by all the preparations, let alone trying to stay on track with homeschooling.

Amidst the countless ideas and fun festivities, the most important gift we can give our children is to keep our hearts focused on the coming of Christ. To begin our “Homeschooling Around the Holidays” series, let’s look at a few ideas for re-centering our days and our hearts on Christ!

1. Begin each day with Scripture and a prayer asking Christ to show you ways to use the school day to glorify God

2. Play praise and worship music throughout the day, either during breaks or quietly in the background as your children work. You might even choose to wake up the whole household in the morning with some great praise and worship!

3. Set aside time each day for quiet time with Jesus, giving each child a Bible or devotional, a rosary, or book about Saints to sit with. Invite them to use the time to read but to also sit quietly in conversation with Jesus.

4. Every so often during lunch time, choose podcasts with stories about the saints or kid-friendly Bible reflections to enjoy as you eat.
