Our partners over at Classic Learning Initiatives have developed an alternative suite of standardized tests rooted in classical tradition while taking advantage of modern technologies. The Classic Learning Test© suite of assessments (CLT, CLT10, and CLT8) offer a highly accurate and rigorous measure of reasoning, aptitude, and academic formation for students from diverse educational backgrounds. Taken online in just two to three hours, the exams provide parents, secondary schools, and colleges with detailed analyses of student learning trends to facilitate decisions about admissions, curricula, and instruction.

The CLT is an online college entrance exam designed for 11th and 12th graders. This exam is remote proctored and taken at the student's home; we also plan to offer in-person proctoring at select test sites in the fall of 2021, and some schools administer the in-person exam to their students on "Partner Schools Only" dates. The CLT takes approximately two hours to complete, and it assesses English, mathematical, and critical reasoning skills. Students receive their scores within 10 business days, and they can instantly share them with an unlimited number of colleges and universities for free.
The CLT10 is an online preparatory exam for the CLT designed for 9th and 10th graders. It can be proctored by a parent at home or taken in-school at participating institutions. The test takes approximately two hours to complete, and it assesses English, mathematical, and critical reasoning skills. There is also an optional, ungraded, thirty-minute essay portion. Students receive their scores the Tuesday following the exam and can share them with an unlimited number of colleges and universities for free. The CLT10 provides students with the opportunity for recognition and, for top scorers, a scholarship to a CLT partner college.
The CLT8 is an online diagnostic or end-of-grade assessment designed for 7th and 8th graders. It can be proctored by a parent at home or taken in-school at participating institutions. The test takes approximately two hours and fifteen minutes to complete, and it assesses English, mathematical, and critical reasoning skills. Students receive their scores the Tuesday following the exam.
